What Is a Semen Analysis?

A semen analysis is a laboratory examination of the ejaculate (semen) that evaluates sperm concentration, motility, and morphological characteristics.

It is one of the primary tests used to assess male fertility and can help identify abnormalities that may contribute to male infertility.

Indications for a Semen Analysis

Routine evaluation;

Pregnancy planning;

Monitoring the effectiveness of male infertility treatment;

Planning cryopreservation of reproductive material.

Preparation for a Semen Analysis

Proper preparation is important to obtain reliable results. Preparation should begin several days before the test.

Maintain complete sexual abstinence for 3–4 days before the test;

Avoid overheating the scrotum, including visits to saunas and steam baths and exposure to excessive occupational heat, for approximately one week before the test.

How Is the Procedure Performed?

Our clinic provides a dedicated private room for semen sample collection, designed to ensure privacy and a comfortable environment.

After collection, the container with the sample is immediately transferred to the laboratory located nearby, where qualified laboratory specialists begin the required analysis without delay.
